Okay, this might be a bit random and slightly controversial, but I genuinely don't understand how people prefer the 2009 Strawberry Shortcake over the 2003 version. People have got to be blinded by nostalgia, because how?
I'm sure everyone has seen the slideshows on TikTok comparing the "eras" of Strawberry Shortcake, kind of like the image below. When I first saw it, I was like, "Wow, what did they do in 2018" LOL. Then I went to the comment section to write "2003 was the best era!" expecting the comments would agree, but no. Literally, every comment was about the 2009 era being superior.
Like being a 2006 baby, I grew up with 2003, 2007 and 2009 Strawberry Shortcakes and watched most of the films in each era. But looking back on it now, the 2009 era was so bland? As a kid, I definitely preferred the 2003 version as the films were interesting, and all the characters ACTUALLY had different and unique personalities.
Every character in the 2009 era were literal carbon copies of each other. Yes, I love the overall art style and the outfits the characters wear, obviously! But the actual characters personalities were so bland.
I'm tempted to rewatch all the films from 2003-2009 to really compare each era and try and see if there's any actual substance to all these "2009 era was the best!" claims. But I feel like my opinion won't change. It's just people being blinded by nostalgia, once again.
To be fair though, the 2009 theme songs hit differently LMAO. Anyways, let me know what you guys think!
